Barrett, Oliver R. (1873-1950)
The Oliver R. Barrett collection consists primarily of correspondence and other papers by or about scholars of Abraham Lincoln. The material includes a dummy book for "Lincoln's Lost Speech in the Campaign of 1858" (Jan. 1929); correspondence regarding letters published in the Atlantic Monthly incorrectly identified as being written by Ann Rutledge (1928-1929); letters from Lincoln collectors, including offers to sell Lincoln items to Barrett; and various other Lincoln-related documents. Also present are six letters from Harry Houdini to Barrett (1922-1926); material on Albert Beveridge and Edward Freiberger; and other items.
