The Simon Brett collection consists of manuscripts of his novels (all published by Gollancz except where indicated) Like Them (unpublished, ca. 1965-1966); Death in Toys (unpublished, ca. 1968); Cleopatra’s Nose (unpublished, ca. 1970); The Meldarch of Tarzene (unpublished children’s book, ca. 1971); Cast, in Order of Appearance (1975); So Much Blood (1976); Star Trap (1977); An Amateur Corpse (1978); A Comedian Dies (Scribner, 1979); The Dead Side of the Mike (1980); Situation Tragedy (Scribner, 1981); and Murder Unprompted (Scribner, 1982). Manuscripts for plays by Brett in the collection include Did You Sleep Well? (first produced in London, 1971); A Good Day at the Office (first produced in London, 1971); One Thing After Another (ca. 1971); With Hilarious Consequences (ca. 1973); Margaret (ca. 1974); and All Change. Also present are manuscripts for several poems (ca. 1968-1972) and short stories by Brett.
