Scope:
The John H. Culp collection consists of manuscripts for Culp’s Western novels Born of the Sun (Sloane, 1959); The Men of Gonzales (Sloane 1960); The Restless Land (Sloane, 1962); The Bright Feathers (Holt, 1965); A Whistle in the Wind: A Novel (Holt, 1968); Timothy Baines: A Novel (Holt, 1969); The Treasure of the Chisos (Holt, 1971); and Oh, Valley Green!: A Novel (Holt, 1972).  Also present is extensive material regarding Culp’s family history, as well as excerpts from “The Furlough Letters,” written from Culp to his wife, Elizabeth Price Culp, edited by Nancy Ryan Sullivan.
