The Guy Daniels collection consists of manuscripts, printed material, correspondence, and other items.
Manuscripts by Daniels in the collection include drafts of his translations of Stendahl, Tolstoy, Mayakovsky, Leskov, Lermontov, Chekhov, and others. The papers also include poetry, essays, articles, and fiction by Daniels.
Printed material in the collection includes articles by Daniels and published in various periodicals, including The New York Times, Vogue, The Nation, and others. In addition, the collection includes reviews and poems written or translated by Daniels, published in The Beloit Poetry Journal, The Colorado Review, The Literary Review, The Kenyon Review, Playboy, Prairie Schooner, Shenandoah, and others.
Correspondence in the collection includes personal and professional letters to and from Daniels, including a letter from Daniels to T.S. Eliot (1953). Notable correspondents include Anais Nin (several letters, 1957-1960) and Sonia Slonim, sister-in-law of Vladimir Nabokov.
