Daubeny, Peter (1921-1975)
The Peter Daubeny collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, notebooks, printed material, photographs, and other material.

Manuscripts in the collection Daubeny's drafts for his autobiographies Stage by Stage (Murray, 1952) and My World of Theatre (J. Cape, 1971).  Also present are play scripts by various authors, used for several productions by Daubeny, many with Daubeny's handwritten annotations.

Correspondence in the collection consists of personal and professional letters.  Notable correspondents include Helene Weigel-Brecht (widow of Bertolt Brecht), Cecil Beaton, Maurice Chevalier, Mick Jagger, Vivien Leigh, Laurence Olivier, Michael Redgrave, Vita Sackville-West, Alicia Markova, Paul Schofield, and Margaret Thatcher.

Notebooks in the collection include Daubeny's handwritten notes, as well as interleaved clippings and correspondence.

Printed material consists of articles and review by Daubeny and others, published in various periodicals, including Envoy and The Spectator.  Also present are programs, advertisements, and other clippings.

Photographs include prints of several performances, play productions, and films, as well as images used to illustrate My World of Theatre.

Scrapbooks kept by Daubeny memorialize several of his productions.  Items in the scrapbooks date from 1948 to 1971, and include printed material, correspondence, and other items.

Other items in the collection include theater posters from various productions staged in England and elsewhere, dating from the 1950s to the 1970s.
