The Martin Dibner collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, printed materials, and other materials.
Collected manuscripts include Showcase (1959), Sleeping Giant (1960), A God for Tomorrow (1961), The Admiral (1967), The Trouble with Heroes (1971), Seacoast Maine: the People and Places (1973), and Ransom Run (1977).
The collection includes correspondence documented thoroughly between 1953 and 1971. With letters between Dibner and Curtis Brown Ltd. (his agent), Bantam Books, Doubleday & Co., and Farrar, Straus, and Giroux (particularly Straus), the correspondence is primarily professional, although occasional letters to friends and others are also included.
Printed materials in the collection consist of color maps, newspaper and magazine articles, assorted broadsides, posters, leaflets, and reports.
Miscellaneous items include ten financial statements (1959-1968), foreign language translations of various novels, and a review of Joan Didion’s "Play It as It Lays."
