The Madelaine Duke collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, printed materials, professional materials, photographs, diaries and journals, scrapbooks, and other materials.
The collection includes manuscripts for Duke’s novels, such as The Bormann Receipt, The Brothers, and multiple manuscripts from her Vet series, among others. In addition to Duke’s manuscripts, the collection contains a number of manuscripts penned by other authors. Notes, outlines, poetry, and untitled works constitute additional items.
Correspondence in the collection is both professional and personal. Business letters and correspondence concerning The Bormann Receipt are included alongside greeting cards, postcards, and letters to contemporaries. Notables include Alex Auswaks, Lord Balfour, and Tasker Ryrie.
Printed material in the collection consists of printed works by Duke and others, as well as an assortment of catalogues, magazine and newspaper clippings, reviews, and publicity clips. Also collected are journals, pamphlets, brochures, book jackets, and promotional material.
The collection includes research documents and art lists regarding Bormann Receipt. Also present are subject files concerning the Children’s Ballet Theatre, Lowes Literary Society, the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain, and others.
An assortment of photographs and several hundred slides are included in the collection, as well.
Professional material consists of roughly forty diaries, daily planners, and calendars.
Memorabilia includes five scrapbooks and travel mementos.
