The Lawrence Goldberg collection consists of personal memorabilia, printed materials, audio recordings, and diaries.
Personal memorabilia in the collection consists of awards, diplomas, certificates, and other documents. Present are Sigma Delta Chi certificate, a Columbia University plaque and diploma, and a Pall Mall Award. Other items include a 1940 White House Pass, two sets of National Guard orders, a framed front page of The Boston Post, a cartoon of Goldberg, and a framed commission from the Massachusetts National Guard.
The collection’s printed materials are comprised entirely of Goldberg’s newsclippings. Binders contain materials on subjects such as the Brinks Robbery, the Cendella Kelly Derham Probe, weather-related disasters, fan mail, gambling rackets, kidnappings, miscellaneous murders, and more. Of particular note are clippings regarding the Millens-Farber bank robbery, trial, and subsequent executions. Criminal Investigations (a textbook with Goldberg’s holograph markings) and Goldberg’s Crime in New England constitute additional printed items.
Audio records are collected on hundreds of cassette tapes, which document Boston-area news events from the 1970s and 80s.
Also included are bound diaries that Goldberg kept between 1968 and 1978.
