Johnston, Ronald (1926- )
The Ronald Johnston collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, personal memorabilia, printed materials, photographs, and other items.

Collected manuscripts, both typescript and holograph (with corrections), include Disaster at Dungeness, Red Sky in the Morning, The Stowaway, The Wrecking of Offshore Five, A Flower for Maria, Beauty and the Beast, The Fourth – And the Last, The Angry Ocean, Love in the Hot Seat or How Cold's Your Nose? (an incomplete novelette), and "The Prophet."

The collection includes Johnston's personal correspondence with his family (1942), consisting of letters, airletters, and postcards. Of particular note is a letter in which Johnston included a self-portrait.

Johnston's personal memorabilia consists chiefly of juvenilia: Royal High School report cards (1931-1940); Nautical Colledge and Sed. School reports; music school certificates; a Macdonald medal; and athletic medals. Other items include biographical data, and seagoing certificates and passes.

Printed materials in the collection include news clippings, issues of The Willie Magazine, and articles about Johnston from publications such as Books and Bookmen and TV Times. Additional items are constituted by book gifts of Johnston's works (Angry Ocean, Stowaway, Wrecking of Offshore Five, and more), many of which are inscribed with Johnston's signature.

Photographs capture Johnston's experiences at Royal High, including his participation on the baseball, football, and soccer teams.

Also present are two desk diaries from Johnston's tenure as chief officer of Royal Arrow (1957-58).
