Scope:
The Marvin Kaye collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, printed materials, and photographs.

The collection includes manuscripts for full-length works and shorter works.

Collected full-length manuscripts include Catalogue of Magic (Doubleday, 1977); My Son, The Druggist (Doubleday, 1977); The Flight of the Umbrella; The Laurel and Hardy Murders; and The Masters of Solitude (by Kaye and Park Godwin).

Collected short manuscripts include "Bubnoff and the Devil," "Cassius, King of Denmark" (a play), "Ms. Lipshutz and the Goblin," "O Yet I do repent…" (a one-act drama), and "The Old Man in the Window."

Additional manuscripts include "The Historical Holmes" and "The Resurrected Holmes."

Correspondence in the collection, dated from 1987 to 2001, documents Kaye's exchanges with a number of notable figures, including Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Jimmy Durante, Earl Godwin, Howard B. Gotlieb, Dean Koontz, Morgan Llywelyn, Gerald Moon, Ray Russell, Darrell Schweitzer, Kurt Vonnegut, and Tennessee Williams, among many others.

Printed materials consist of proofs for Catalog and My Son; "The Resurrected Holmes"; and tear sheets of "Toy Fair Mini-Mysteries" (a column by Kaye in Toy Trade News).

Collected photographs capture Kaye's performances, as well as his family and friends. Black and white and color prints are collected in various sizes and are occasionally marked by Kaye with explanatory notes.
