The George Mendoza collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, printed materials, professional materials, financial materials, photographs, and other material.

Manuscripts in the collection consist of drafts and completed works for books, children's books, poetry books, teleplays, screenplays, and musical manuscripts. Books include The Devil's Pocket; Lovebird; Rabbit (1980); The Man Who Fed the Birds; Love; The Four Seasons of Norman Rockwell; The Mist Men (1970); Norman Rockwell’s Happy Holidays (1983); Puppy Love; Time is But the Stream I Go A-Fishin' In; Tying the Knot; and Young Love. Children's books include Spaghetti and Meatball’s Glorious Food Café; Henri Mouse; Henri Mouse, The Juggler; Henri Mouse and the Matador (in French, 1984); The Naughties and Nympholept.  Drafts of poems for Mendoza's books of poetry are also included. Teleplays and film treatment outlines include "And God Created Slobs," "Dream Factory," "Murder by the Book" and other various TV outlines. Screenplays include Ali is Waiting for Rody Dancer (1978-1979) and You Show Me Yours and I'll Show You Mine (1971). Three musical manuscripts by Andres Segovia, Jesus Silva, and Alexandre Tansman are also included.

Correspondence dates from 1960s to 1980s, is largely professional, and includes correspondence to some notable names such as President Jimmy Carter (1979), Andres Segovia (1980), and Thomas Rockwell (1983).

Printed material includes book reviews, pamphlets, photographs, portfolios, calendars, magazines, proofs, journals, book cataloges, book covers, and press clippings regarding his work, dating from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Professional material include notes and other items by Mendoza, mostly regarding publication and press.

Financial material includes contracts dating from 1976-1971, "Discovery" documents from 1983, and a final advance check request from 1983.

Photographs include photos of Mendoza with friends and family dated 1977-1980, black and white prints regarding Mendoza from 1974, a set of trout fishing photographs (1970-1978), and other items.

Other material includes artwork; daily planners includes (1980, 1981, 1983); and a home video.
