Morley, John David (1948-2018)

The John David Morley collection includes manuscripts, research material, journals and diaries, correspondence, printed material, and photographs.
Manuscripts in the collection include Morley's Pictures from the Water Trade (1985); In the Labyrinth (1986); The Case of Thomas N. (1987); The Feast of Fools (1995); The Anatomy Lesson (1995); Journey to the End of the Whale (2005); Destiny, or: The Attraction of Affinities (1996); and Passage (2007). Also included are various poems, articles, autobiographical writings, and manuscripts regarding Morley.
Research material in the collection consists of research notes and an explanation by Morley for his novel Passage.
Journals and diaries in the collection include Morley’s travel journals concerning his Indonesia trip for Journey to the End of the Whale, as well as some of Armgard de Vivanco-Luyken’s diaries.
Correspondence in the collection includes both personal and professional material dated from 1963 to 2000. Notable correspondents include Armgard de Vivanco-Luyken, and Nevill Coghill.
Printed material in the collection consists of an issue of Sunday Times Magazine from Jan. 27, 1985, in which Morley wrote an article, and various pamphlets and handouts that Morley collected for research.
Photographs in the collection include albums of Morley with family and friends, and personal photographs of Armgard de Vivanco-Luyken.
