Ribalow, Harold U. (1919-1982)

The Harold U. Ribalow collection consists of manuscripts, printed materials, photographs, and correspondence.
Manuscripts in the collection include setting copies with printer’s marks, editor’s notes, and author’s notes for Arnold Wesker (1965), including some notes in Wesker’s own hand; and signed drafts of The Tie That Binds (1980).
Printed materials include numerous articles by Ribalow, including “Historical Fiction on Jewish Themes; A Selected Bibliography” (1966), “Isaac Bashevis Singer – Nobel Prize Winner 1978: An Interview” (1979), and book reviews dating from 1951 to 1970. Also included are news releases, news clippings, and some book reviews of other authors.
Photographs in the collection include one color photograph of Pownal Vermont.
Correspondence in the collection is primarily related to research on Lewis Lewisohn, and dates from 1962 to 1965. Notable correspondents include Sylvia Bowman and Mrs. Ludwig Lewisohn.
