The Irwin Shaw collection consists of manuscripts, printed material, correspondence, and photographs.
Manuscripts by Shaw in the collection include Two Weeks In Another Town (Random, 1960); In the Company of Dolphins (Geis, 1964); Voices of a Summer Day (Delacorte, 1965); and Rich Man, Poor Man (Delacorte, 1970). Other manuscripts by Shaw include numerous short stories, articles, and scripts.
Printed material in the collection consists primarily of newspaper clippings regarding Shaw (1945-1965), as well as writings by Shaw published in Yale Review, Esquire, Western Humanities Review, Confrontation, and Salute .
Correspondence includes letters to Shaw from Elia Kazan, Larry Dingman, and John T. Elliot.Photographs in the collection include photos taken in Europe following World War I, as well as photos dating from the 1940s through 1983. Images includes Shaw's family, as well as notable individuals: Joshua Logan, Anatole Litvak, Pinckney Ridgell, Peter Viertel, Deborah Kerr, Art Buchwald, and Lauren Bacall.
