Slonim, Marc (1894-1976)
The Marc Slonim collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, printed material, financial and legal documents, scrapbooks, personal memorabilia, and audio.

Manuscripts in the collection include several versions, drafts, revisions, and pages of notes of several of Slonim's published books regarding Russian literature.  Titles include Soviet Russian Literature (1964), Modern Russian Literature, and several versions, drafts and chapters of Slonim's memoirs. The collection also contains some manuscript material in the files organized by Slonim himself regarding various subjectas well as several radio scripts and manuscripts of lectures and speeches given by Slonim.

The bulk of materials in the collection is the many subject files organized by Slonim. These files contain various manuscripts, letters, and printed items.  The material in these files is generally in Russian, with some in English. Topics include Anna Akhmatova; Russian literature; French literature; Jewish writers in Soviet literature; Romanticism; and other subjects.

Correspondence in the collection includes both professional and personal letters from various individuals in Russia, America, and Sweden.  Notable correspondents include Pearl S. Buck, Norman Cousins, Vladimir Nabokov, Nathan Pusey, Roy Basler, Alastair Reid, Robert Manning, Francis Brown, Esther Raushenbush, and Harold Taylor among many others.

Printed material in the collection largely consists of news clippings regarding Slonim and his works; various personal copies of journals and magazines; announcements; and various other items.

The collection contains financial records and documents belonging to Slonim, ranging from contracts and tax filings to social security documents and miscellaneous other documents.

The collection also contains several diaries and notebooks consisting of various manuscript material, news clips, and personal writings. Journals are in English, Russian and French, and date from 1941 to 1976.

Other material includes photographs, scrapbooks, and some audio recordings. Photographs in the collection feature Slonim and his family, friends, and professional colleagues. Scrapbooks also contain photographs as well as news clippings and book reviews. Audio recordings in the collection consist of several of the Russian radio shows Slonim was involved with.
