Buka, Donald (1920-2009)
Scope:
The Donald Buka collection consists of correspondence, professional material, printed material, photographs, and other items.

Correspondence in the collection consists of personal and professional letters to and from various individuals, dating from 1887 to 1980.  Notable correspondents include Lynn Fontanne, Alfred Lunt, Dimitri Mitropolous, Lillian Hellman, Bette Davis, and Eva La Gallienne.

Professional material consists of items regarding a production of Hamlet (including letters from Arthur Penn); and various resumes and handwritten notes.

Printed material in the collection consists of clippings, programs, flyers, and other items, many regarding Buka, dating from the 1940s to the 1980s.

Photographs primarily consist of promotional stills from various films, including A Street with No Name, Watch on the Rhine, and The Absence of a Cello.  Images of notable individuals include Bette Davis, Hans Conried, Groucho Marx, Joanne Woodward, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Grace Kelly, and others.  Also present are several photographs of Buka’s family and friends.

Other material in the collection includes manuscripts; a scrapbook (1952-1953); artwork; and personal memorabilia.
