Rothberg, June (1923- )
Scope:
The June S. Rothberg collection includes professional material, manuscripts, correspondence, printed material, and memorabilia.

Professional material in the collection primarily consists of files regarding the various committees, conferences, and issues with which Rothberg was involved, dating from 1966 to the early 1990s.  Topics include; numerous professional nursing organizations; Adelphi University, including material on courses taught by Rothberg (1969); various hospitals; nursing conventions and seminars; nursing education programs; nurses' unions; reports; meeting minutes; and travel.

Manuscripts in the collection include "Nurse and Physician's Assistant: Issues and Relationships" (1972), originally delivered as a speech in St Louis, then printed in Nursing Outlook (1973); Nurse Administrators Conference Group, Queens Village, NY (1974); "Determinates of Faulty Workloads in Nursing" (1973); District 14, New York State Nurses Association, Nurse Administrators Conference Group, Queens Village, NY (1974); International Conference on Women in Health, Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Washington, D.C. (1975); South Nassau Communities Hospital, Oceanside, NY (1975); "Current Perspectives in Rehabilitation" (1977); Health Systems Research Nursing Centers for Family Health Services, "Evaluation of a Free Standing Nurse Clinic," by Rothberg and Barbara Kos, published by the American Academy of Nursing, Los Angeles, CA (1979); "Rehabilitation Team Practice" (1980); "Dean As Administrator, Scholar, and Colleague," in Conway and Andruskiw's Administration Theory and Practice, published by Appleton, Century, Crofts (1983); "The Interdisciplinary Process: Is it a Chimera for Clinical Practice and for the ACRM?" 34th John Stanley Coulter Lecture, ACRM Annual meeting, Boston, MA (1984); and a foreword to Comprehensive Rehabilitation Nursing, published by W.B. Saunders (2001); and copies of speeches from Rothberg's lecture tours.

The collection also contains correspondence and documents concerning organizations nationwide, including: the Sixth Congressional District, New York; Harvard University; University of Pennsylvania; Boston University; WNYC Radio and Television; and the Presidential Affairs Committee. There is also correspondence and information on the American Academy of Nursing, its' various sub-committees, organizations, events, and meetings; and correspondence related to Rothberg's lecture tours.

Printed material includes the several articles, speeches, reports, forewords, and other publications, including some published versions of writings by Rothberg, dating from 1962 to 1981.  Rothberg had a prolific career as a public speaker and conference panelist; the collection includes several public presentations and addresses, dating from 1969 to 1982.

Memorabilia in the collection consists of special honors or awards received by Rothberg.  These include a Special Pre-Doctoral Research Fellowship, awarded her by the National Institutes of Health (1960-1962); the New York University Founders' Day Award (1965); the Distinguished Alumnus Award for Outstanding Contributions to Nursing and Society, awarded by the New York University School of Education (1974); and election as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (1975).
