Scope:
The Barbara Williams collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, printed material, photographs, and memorabilia.

Manuscripts in the collection include drafts of History of Nursing; a teacher's handwritten notes (1927); and a bound carbon draft of ANA, a Brief Chronological Review.

Correspondence consists of letters related to the International Council of Nurses Quadrennial Conference, London (1937).

Printed material includes brochures and student recruitment material; an issue of the New York State Quarterly News (1930); an autographed color picture of medical missionary to Newfoundland and Labrador Sir Wilfred Grenfell, on the back of a calendar (1932); "Proceedings of the Eighth International Council of Nurses Quadrennial Congress, London," along with arrangements and Congress programs (1937); a copy of the London Times reporting on the Congress (1937); poster for a U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps event held in Boston (1945); programs, news clippings, and a calendar of events related to the Columbia University Bicentennial Celebration 1754-1954 (1954); published articles from professional journals; covers from issues of The Trained Nurse and Hospital Review; and printed photos of nurse leaders, including Grace Baxter, Frances P. Bolton, J. Beatrice Bowman, Edna L. foley, Carrie M. Hall, Anna Hamilton, Sister Agnes Karll Brigit M. Kelly, Mlle. Louise LeGras, M. Helena McMillan, Clara Dutton Noyes, Hannah Palmer, and Martha Montague Russell.

Photographs in the collection include: a published photo of participants at the National League of Nursing Annual Convention, Swampscott, MA (1923); a group photo of the participants in the Executive Secretaries of the State Nurses Associations Conference at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (1947); and a set of post card-sized views of exhibits in the American Red Cross Museum, in a souvenir folder.

Memorabilia in the collection include: a "Boston Lying In Hospital" pin, inscribed Nov. 30, 1919; menus from the Cunard White Star Line (1937); and a certificate of recognition for Williams' wartime contributions as an instructor.
