The Dolores J. Haritos collection consists of manuscripts, photographs, and printed material.
Manuscripts include transcripts of interviews conducted by Haritos for the US Air Force Oral History Program: Brig. Gen. Claire M. Garrecht (1982); Col. Frances Lay-Wilson (1982); Col. V. Zeller Pettoruto (1982); Col. Ethel Kovatch Scott (1983); and Col. Dorothy V. Zeller (1985).
Photographs in the collection include: eight of the original ten founding members of the First Company, US Aerial Nurse Corps (1936 US National Air Reserves); Lauretta Schummoler, founder of the US Aerial Nurse Corps; Brig Gen. Claire M. Garrecht, Sixth Chief Nurse, US Air Force Nurse Corps (1956-1960); Col. Ethel R. Kovach Scott, Fourth Chief Nurse, US Air Force Nurse Corps (1963-1968); Dr. Anita Newcomb, for American Nursing; Col. Verena M. Zeller, First Chief Nurse, US Air Force Nurse Corps; and Ruth Gardiner, for the Journal of Military Nursing and Research (1995).
Printed material includes: a newspaper clipping, "Reagan Honors Haritos," by Ruth Des Roches, New England Community College Observer, Haverhill, Massachusetts (1983); "The United States Air Force Nurse Corps Documents Its History," by Haritos, in the Journal of Military Nursing and Research (1995); and an obituary for Lieutenant Ruth Gardiner, first nurse confirmed killed in a theater of occupation in World War II.
