De Quincey, Thomas (1785-1859)
The Thomas de Quincey collection consists of manuscripts and correspondence.

Manuscripts by de Quincey include drafts and notes for articles for the Westmoreland Gazette, 1818-1819; a partial draft of an article on political economy, ca. 1824; three fragments fixed to a single sheet of paper; a partial draft manuscript of de Quincey's article on Charles Lamb, which was printed in the North Britain Review, ca. 1848; and a draft fragment of Chapter 13 of de Quincey's Autobiographical Sketches, "My Brother Pink."

Correspondence in the collection consists of several letters from de Quincey to various recipients, including: two letters to James Augustus Helley (ca. 1823 and 1824); a draft of a letter to the proprietor of the Westmoreland Gazette requesting back pay, ca. 1819; a letter to W.R. Duckworth (1829); and four letters to the agents of his landlord, Lady Nairne, about his financial difficulties.
