Rezendes, Mike
The Mike Rezendes collection consists of research material, printed material, photographs, memorabilia, audio and video recordings, and other items.

Research material constitutes the bulk of the collection, and is made up of various types of records, including manuscripts, printed items, correspondence, notes, legal records, and other material.  Much of this material pertains to the Boston Globe 2002 "Spotlight" investigation of the Catholic Church authorities' cover-up of decades of sexual abuse by several priests in Massachusetts; these items include court filings, legal discovery documents, depositions, and other items.  Other subjects include material for a 2005 story on the Boston Redevelopment Authority and efforts by the city to close the affordable housing gap; a series of stories from 2002-2003 on corruption and mismanagement in charitable foundations; a 2006 series into abuses by the debt collection industry; a four-part series from 2000 on the legal and fiscal struggles of American Indian tribes attempting to become self-sufficient through casino gaming revenues; a 2008 series on the consolidation and merger of the Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General hospitals into the massive Partners HealthCare conglomerate; a 2007 investigation into the high rate of suicides in Massachusetts prisons; and a 2001 series on shoddy home construction practices by the Toll Brothers real estate and construction company.

Printed material includes articles about the Boston Globe "Spotlight" team and their work; early articles by Rezendes for the East Boston Community News (dated 1976 and 1977); a poster for the 2015 film Spotlight, about the Globe's reporting of the Catholic Church story; and other items, including several newspaper articles written by Rezendes for The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix, Boston Magazine, and other publications.

Photographs include several prints of Rezendes at various events.

Memorabilia in the collection include an award from the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP); a journalistic excellence award from the Massachusetts National Alliance on Mental Illness; and other items.

Audio and video in the collection include interviews with Rezendes on various radio and television programs; and local and national television coverage related to Rezendes’ reporting.  Some items are included among Rezendes's research files.

Other material includes files of material arranged by subject, including additional material on the Spotlight reporting on the Catholic Church and charitable foundations (see research material above); and files on: Douglas Leman's embezzlement of funds at the New England School of Law; the Massachusetts Parole Board; confidential police informants in Lowell, MA; access to public records; Probate Court cases; the Rhode Island nightclub fire; campaign finance laws; elder abuse; and other subjects.  Also present are files on George W. Bush, James J. Cipoletta, John F. Kerry, Thomas Menino, Dan Rather, Charles D. Baker, John B. Barranco, Paul L. Barrett, Amy Bishop, Dominic Cinelli, Kathleen M. Dennegy, Mary Jo Griffin, Jim McKenna, Sean O’Malley, Richard R. Tisei, Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev, and other individuals.  In addition, the collection includes a few reporter’s notebooks with Rezendes's notes.
