Albert Camus: A Centenary Tribute, 1913-1960

This small exhibition celebrates the life and work of French Nobel Prize winning author, journalist, and philosopher, Albert Camus. The exhibition features correspondence between Camus and editors of the Partisan Review, regarding the publication of Camus' work in the magazine, the English translation of Albert Camus' article "The Absurd Writer," ("Un Ecrivain Absurde,") as well as the original French version, and early editions of Camus' books, L'tranger (The Stranger) and La Peste (The Plague). A photograph of Albert Camus is also included in the exhibition.

Although the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center at Boston University does not hold a major Albert Camus Archive, these materials have been assembled from several collections to commemorate the Centenary of his birth.

This exhibit is no longer on view.
