History of Nursing Archives

 

This exhibition highlights the past, present, and future of the nursing occupation through the collections held at the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center's History of Nursing Archives.

The exhibition features photographs, correspondence, paper drafts, books, awards, and speeches from nursing leaders such as Florence Nightingale, Linda Richards, Martha Ruth Smith, Mary Ann Garrigan, Jessie M. Scott, and Mary Elizabeth Carnegie.

The exhibition also features original material from nursing organizations, hospitals, and training schools such as the Boston University School of Nursing, the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing, the Waltham Training School for Nurses, the New England Hospital for Women and Children, the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, the Children's Hospital School of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, and the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston.

Located in the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center on the fifth floor of the Mugar Memorial Library. The exhibition can be viewed during regular office hours, Monday-Friday 9:00 AM -5:00 PM.
