The Victorians

This three-case exhibition, presented in conjunction with The Dickens Society's 22nd Annual Symposium: Interdisciplinary Dickens, showcased the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center's extensive holdings in Victoriana.

The exhibition featured some interesting items from social critic and celebrated author Charles Dickens, including correspondence written by Dickens and a number of rare editions of his books, such as first editions of A Christmas Carol and Oliver Twist. The exhibition also featured original material from some of Dickens' Victorian contemporaries, including Matthew Arnold; Robert Browning; Elizabeth Barrett Browning; Thomas De Quincey; Thomas Hardy; Florence Nightingale; Alfred, Lord Tennyson; Queen Victoria; and Oscar Wilde.

This exhibition is no longer on display.
