The Temptations of Jesus #5: In the Garden
July 29, 1962
July 29, 1962. Running time: 47:21. Thurman continues his series on the dilemmas and temptations Jesus faced. He uses the scene in the Garden of Gethsemane as another example of Jesus asking the question: "Is there some other way?" Thurman posits that Jesus was engaging the problem of death, which is universal to all humans (the fear of loss, lack of a future, need for more time). Despite this dilemma, Jesus still went through with his crucifixion. This, according to Thurman, exemplifies how we should strive in our own lives.
